To learn more about collection ad format click here.

Сollections format is now expanding beyond shopping, and allowing advertisers to create collection ads regardless of whether or not they have a product catalog uploaded on Facebook.

The collection ad format was previously only available for advertisers with a product catalog on Facebook. With this update, advertisers (irrespective of whether they have product catalog on Facebook or not) can also create a collection ad using Canvas.

Currently only website clicks/traffic and conversion objectives are supported for collection, but in the coming months, we will also look to offer Canvas for the collection ad format for brand awareness and reach objectives.

Businesses will now have an option to attach either a product catalog (if present) or a Canvas fullscreen, to their collection. The Canvas fullscreen could be created from one of the above-mentioned templates and existing brand/landing page assets, or could be created from scratch for a customized story. Similar to the product catalog experience, once the Canvas is attached to a collection ad, businesses will choose four photos from the attached Canvas, to showcase below the main collection video or image.

Advertisers have used Canvas successfully to get new customers, showcase their business, and sell products. Facebook has launched three new templates that make it easier to create a Canvas for these business objectives.
